James Edwin Parker is an American playwright, lyricist, and librettist whose work bridges the intimate and the epic, the political and the personal. Known for his emotionally resonant characters and a heightened realism that draws comparisons to Terrence McNally and Lanford Wilson. Parker’s plays examine love, desire, identity, and the cultural moment with wit, compassion, and a distinct thea-trical voice.
He is a founding member of the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and has been a featured contributor in literary anthologies including Mama’s Boy: Gay Men Write About Their Mothers. His plays have been produced across the United States and abroad.
Born in Ithaca, New York, Parker is currently based in Barcelona, Spain with his two ridiculous dogs.
